U.S. Robotics Becomes ‘Xerox Alliance Partner’ in Europe

Chicago (25 July 2005)– U.S. Robotics announced today that it has been accepted into the Xerox Alliance Partner program in Europe. Long recognised as a leader in network access delivering the highest quality and most innovative products available, U.S. Robotics now provides users of Xerox products in Europe with solutions designed to provide an entire workforce with wireless access to networked devices.

“We have worked to support Xerox and ensure their products’ seamless integration with ours,” says Peter Blampied, U.S. Robotics’ director, EMEA sales and operations. “This designation as an Alliance Partner further cements our commitment to providing solutions for users worldwide.”

Initially developed in Italy by U.S. Robotics’ Country Manager Maurizio Negri, the solution allows an entire workforce to connect to printers, faxes and scanners through a wireless network designed around the USR5450 802.11g Wireless Turbo Multi-Function Access Point. The access point, connected directly to the router providing Internet access, can transmit its signal throughout large offices, providing wireless users with access to all networked devices. The solution was first implemented at MC Informatica*, a company that specializes in the design, creation and development of advanced integrated systems for medium and large companies.

Individual workstations are connected to the wireless network through PC Cards, PCI Adapters and other wireless adapters, such as the USR5410 802.11g Wireless Turbo PC Card and the USR5416 802.11g Wireless Turbo PCI Adapter. Network intrusion by outsiders is minimized through WEP encryption with 256-byte keys, while a cable-free solution improves the office’s efficiency and aesthetic appearance without affecting productivity.

The partnership is part of Xerox’s commitment to meeting and exceeding customers’ document-related challenges in the office, and ensuring Xerox products integrate easily and securely into their networks. The European-based Xerox Alliance Partner programme combines advanced applications from a wide variety of providers to create customized solutions that extend the functionality of Xerox products and services. Working together, the program allows Xerox and manufacturers to meet virtually any customers’ requirements.
