USRobotics Introduces Powerful Telephone Line Sharing Device for Businesses

USR Call Director Phone/Fax/Modem Switch (Model 4000)

Chicago (February 17, 2010)USRobotics, a Platinum Equity company and a leading provider of Internet access and networking products, is helping businesses reduce capital expenditures through the introduction of its new telephone line sharing device. The USR Call Director allows companies to share a single telephone line with up to four analog devices so the routing of voice, fax and modem calls automatically go to the correct equipment. The new line sharing device streamlines the number of telephone lines needed to retain all business functions, which ultimately saves budget dollars.

“In these challenging economic times, finding ways to reduce monthly costs is a high priority,” explained Bruce Swail, CEO at USRobotics. “Many small businesses are paying to have dedicated telephone lines for voice, fax machines, point-of-sale terminals and credit card terminals, which can be extremely costly. By consolidating multiple phone lines more money is put back into the budget.” He added that companies can expect a three-month return on investment and a potential savings of up to $600 per year* -- and this savings continues each subsequent year the USR Call Director is used. For businesses with multiple locations, installation of the USR Call Director can quickly add tens of thousands of dollars back to the bottom line.

Ideal for everything from SMB to national retail chains, the USR Call Director first automatically answers, then screens and routes all incoming voice, fax, and modem calls to the right equipment thereby removing the need for multiple costly telephone lines. It can even be used to manually transfer calls. With no drivers or software to install, the USR Call Director is easy to use and works with any type of phone system or telephony device to benefit out-of-band network access, point-of-sale, remote equipment maintenance, digital signage and many other business applications.

The USR Call Director is pre-programmed to automatically route fax calls to a fax machine or fax modem and features Barge-In protection so active calls aren’t interrupted by another connected device. At the same time, the new switch has a non-volatile memory so all programming is preserved after a power outage. It also includes program security access codes, remote programming and diagnostic capabilities for better control.

The new USR Call Director (Part Number USR4000) is currently available in the U.S. It can be purchased through USRobotics’ wholesale distributors and via USRobotics’ reseller partners. The new product comes standard with a one-year limited manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase. For additional information, please call (847) 874 2000 or go to
