CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW/Las Vegas, Nev. (January 5, 2006)– USRobotics, a leader in Internet access and networking known for quality, innovation, and performance announced the addition of two multimedia devices and one new storage device at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today. The additions to the company’s ever growing line of home integration and Internet access products include a home multimedia player, a home multimedia server, and a network attached storage device.

“Our multimedia products represent another new category for USRobotics,” says CEO Joe Hartnett. “We launched VoIP and Skype products just a few months ago, and with the addition of multimedia products and a new storage device, we now offer our customers even more reliable, easy to use products for their homes and offices.”

The USR6200 Digital Media Playeris designed to integrate into an existing home network and entertainment center. It allows users to access music, movies, and other media files stored on their network via their television. Users can play home videos saved through their camera’s connection, music from their library accompanied by a personalized slide show of images, or movies downloaded from a subscription service. The USR6200 is the only media player of its kind to support output in high definition, making it the ideal complement to today’s home entertainment systems.

The USR6201 Digital Media Serveris the heart of the USRobotics home multimedia solution. It offers low overhead media archive protection via hardware RAID and a dedicated media file system optimized for video and audio storage, retrieval, and streaming. Scalable to meet the storage needs of individuals, the server stores music, movies, and other files for access by the USR6200 Digital Media Player. The media server features four drive bays, integrated Gigabit networking, and extensive embedded support for session-aware streaming to support multiple concurrent high-definition streams.

The USR8700 Serial ATA 4-Drive Network Attached Storageappliance brings sophisticated, cost-effective and safe storage to small businesses, corporate work-groups and advanced households. The USR8700 features four drive bays that allow customers to add more than a terabyte of storage. It comes loaded with powerful RAID hardware and software, the industry standard for safe storage across multiple drives, as well as simple to understand and use wizards. With integrated Gigabit networking and print server capability, the USR8700 delivers excellent performance, value, functionality and peace of mind, while easily expanding networked storage.

“These new products are part of our commitment to offering our customers solutions for connecting – to other people, other devices, and to other locations,” says Hartnett. “More and more people are connecting across broadband lines, using their televisions like computers, and putting their faith in digital storage. Our products bring the hallmarks of the USRobotics’ brand to the ever growing home integration market.”
