I received the error message: An exception 0E has occurred at 0028: C156E012 in VXD NETBEUI (01) + 000026B2 during the USR5420 installation and during the USB cable unplugged/replugged in Windows 98SE/ME.

Remove the NETBEUI Protocol from the Network Neighborhood before installing the USR5420. To remove the NETBEUI Protocol from the Network Neighborhood, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood and select Properties.
  2. In the Configuration tab, select NETBEUI and click Remove. Repeat this step until all NETBEUI Protocols are removed from the system.
  3. Restart the system.
