My network configuration has security disabled but I still cannot associate my USRobotics 5430 Gaming Adapter to my wireless router or access point

If security (WEP) is disabled in your wireless router or access point, and you have security (WEP) disabled in your 5430 Gaming Adapter, you must ensure Open System Authentication is selected even when WEP is disabled on both the client side (5430 Wireless Gaming Adapter) and the network side (wireless router or access point). To verify Open Authentication is selected, follow the steps below:

  1. Insert a pin or paperclip to press the reset button momentarily (less than 2 seconds). The reset button is located on the back of the USR5430.
  2. Connect one end of the included Ethernet cable to the port on the back of the USR5430. Connect the other end into an Ethernet port on your computer.
  3. Open an Internet browser and enter http://192.168.1.201
Note: If you are not able to establish a connection to the default IP address above, you may need to release and renew your IP address. Refer to the Ping Procedure in the Troubleshooting section of the User Guide for specific instructions. Alternatively, you may restart your computer.
  4. Enter your username and password. The default username is admin. The default password is admin. Press Enter on your keyboard.
  5. The Web User Interface will appear. Select Client Mode or Ad Hoc Mode and click Next.
Note: If using Ad Hoc Mode, both gaming adapters must be set to the same channel.
  6. Select Off in the Data Encryption field, select Open System in the Authentication field and click Save, as illustrated in the graphic below:

You will receive a message that states: Your 5430 is configured. Click Continue.
  7. Once you have configured your USR5430, remove the Ethernet cable from your computer and connect to the Ethernet port on your gaming console or your Ethernet-ready device.
