The industrial grade Call Director Pro (CDP) reduces phone costs, improves connectivity, and secures your telecom and network equipment for a rock solid remote network support system. Line consolidation and call routing are the foundation of the CDP - automatically routing calls to phone, fax, or dial-up modems, ensuring that the right resource is reached the first time on just one phone line. Consistent connectivity prevents time-consuming dial-backs and streamlines polling and data acquisition processes for SCADA, POS, HVAC, and other M2M communications. Recover access to network equipment when in-band access is denied with the "back door" alternative utilizing a USR® Call Director Pro and analog modem for inexpensive and secure out-of-band access. In addition to line sharing cost savings and precise routing, the CDP is engineered to provide an additional layer of security to connected devices and protect access to IT systems. Vulnerable pathways to equipment via the PSTN are protected by programmable Security Access Codes up to seven characters. There are over 35 million combinations to choose from, effectively creating a telephony firewall for dial-up connections. Adhere to strict IT security policies with separate, isolated access to remote telecom and network assets ideal for service vendors and IT administrators needing an extra layer of security.

The Call Director Pro is an industrial grade call processor with an advanced feature set designed to route calls on an analog/simulated analog telephone line. Upon ring detection, the Call Director Pro will capture CID Data and answer the incoming call. After answering, the Call Director Pro immediately scans for a CNG (fax) tone or DTMF security access code (SAC). During this processing period, a Bell spec “ring-back” tone is provided to the calling party. If a security access code (SAC) is detected, the call is routed to the corresponding device port. If a CNG (fax) tone is detected, the call is routed to the designated fax port (Device 2 port). In the absence of a CNG tone or security access code, the call is defaulted to the device 1 port. The original CID Data will be retransmitted after the first ring to any device port. All device ports have access to telephone line and outbound requests are performed in a standard fashion. Any device that tries to access the telephone line when the telephone line is in use will hear a busy signal. The emergency barge-in (EBI) feature allows the specified device port/ports to seize the telephone line and take priority in the event of a critical outbound call. This feature can be programmed ON/OFF (OFF by default) for devices 1 through 4 for the USR4005 & USR4009 units.
Please note that the Emergency Barge-In operation of the Call Director Pro may not be optimal for achieving line seizure when used on the PRIMARY connection in applications involving emergency security equipment, e.g. fire, medical, police, first responder, or critical monitoring notification. Always validate approved connections with the appropriate local jurisdiction/ordinances and the Insurer of the business/property. If you choose to utilize the Call Director Pro on a primary connection, it is highly recommended that all equipment involved is thoroughly tested and in compliance prior to final activation.
The Device 2 port is the default FAX port. When the CDP is at factory default programming, an incoming call will be routed to Device port 2 when a CNG (fax) tone is detected.
Since The CDP always “answers” the incoming call from the phone company in order to determine the type of call, there will never be an un-answered call situation which means that phone company VM will only pick up on a busy message. We recommend using an answering machine or a voice mail system that is part of your phone system to catch unanswered calls.
Yes. The CDP has a CID Store and Forward feature which is on by default. The CDP captures the incoming CID and retransmits it after the first ring when ringing any device port.
Connect the FAX machine to the Device 1 port of the CDP. Program Fax Tone Detect To Device 2 (Register 01, Flag 2/Bit 6) to a value of 0. Call our Technical Support Department if you require assistance with this programming change. All inbound calls will be directed to Device port 1 unless the proper security access code (transfer code) is detected.
In order to dial into a specific port, make sure that you are using the proper dialing sequence. The recommended dialing sequence is the normal digits of the telephone number followed by ,,SAC,SAC. The commas represent pause and the SAC is the security access code within the CDP. Example: 15026468878,,33,33 (To connect to Device port 3).
